What started as an appointment to talk about transport crates for sharpening grew into a great process in which we took a close look at the entire knife management together with Van Loon Group.

What started as an appointment to talk about transport crates for sharpening grew into a great process in which we took a close look at the entire knife management together with Van Loon Group.

Our Technical Support, Eric Timmer (on the left in the photo), together with Account Manager Antonio Chaniotakis, (on the right in the photo) made an inventory of the products and the temperatures at which they are processed per machine. Based on this, they have made a proposal for fixed knife arrangements. In doing so, he took into account knives that were already in use as much as possible, of course to limit the costs for the customer.

After approval, the new sets were installed, together with the operators.
The first results were immediately positive:

  • A more consistent quality of the final product
  • Quieter running machines
  • A much more stable process

In the days that followed, we also worked out the next steps together:

  • a fixed switching schedule
  • the required number of sets in circulation
  • the frequency of transport for grinding
  • Tailor-made transport boxes for safe and clear management

The result for Van Loon:

  • Consistent product quality
  • Less wear on the blade sets
  • More efficient blade management
  • Safer transport and complete sets always in stock

This is another great example of how process insight and cooperation with the customer can lead to more continuity and quality in production. Curious about what we can do for you? Please contact us at sales@unspi.com or or 055-2082400 to discuss the possibilities.
